Ekk Deewana Tha Critics Review:

1. As per Daily Bhaskar - 2/5

Fresh pair with a partially good on-screen chemistry trying to be a part of a lovey-dovey love story could be one reason to give it a try. A dragged storyline which is not worth the climax disappoints. Girls, who can endure anything for a feel good factor to see a guy madly in love with a girl, can too grab a ticket. Overall, Ek Deewana Tha entertains sporadically.

2. As per Rediff - 1/5

Ek Deewana Tha is the Hindi remake of Gautham Menon's Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya which was a huge commercial hit. Somewhere, something obviously got lost in translation.

3. As per Komal Nahta - 1/5

Good: A few light scenes; the Hosanna song.
Bad: The routine story; the weak screenplay; lack of feeling of empathy for the two lead characters.
Verdict: Ekk Deewana Tha will go largely unnoticed by the audience.

4. As per Times of India - 3/5

The love story of Sachin and Jessie never becomes your own though the lead pair is okay. Prateik's voice is evocative; Amy Jackson, a former Miss Liverpool, reeks of an understated sensuality, though strangely, her skin-tone keeps varying with every scene. But together they fail to synergize their performances. Ekk Deewana Tha doesn't really put you in the mood for love.

5. As per Yahoo! - (-1)/5

Through his struggle and strive to win his lady love, Sachin keeps ranting one line, “Duniya mein itni ladkiyan hain par mujhe Jessie se hi pyaar kyun hua?” Perhaps, because Jessie Jaisi Koi Nahin? But the question you will find yourself pondering over through the film will be, “Multiplex mein itni movies hain, phir maine iss movie ka ticket hi kyun liya?”

6. As per Taran Adarsh - 2/5

On the whole, EKK DEEWANA THA has a few sparkling moments, that's about it. However, it lacks the fizz for the spectator to go deewana!
