Aamir Khan's son Junaid to direct his father's upcoming movie Peekay

When Aamir Khan hits the floors to shoot for his new biggie, Peekay, his 17-year-old son Junaid will be assisting director Rajkumar Hirani to call the shots.

Junaid has been employed as Hirani's first assistant director for the film, which stars dad Aamir opposite Anushka Sharma. Shooting for Peekay is slated to start around the end of this year and the film is scheduled to release in 2013.

While the film marks Khan junior's launch into Bollywood, blockbuster maker Hirani makes his debut as a producer with Peekay.

His three films so far - Munna Bhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munna Bhai and 3 Idiots - were all produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

"It was Hirani's suggestion that Junaid assist him on this film. Junaid is a regular on the sets of his dad's films and has often been spotted learning the ropes of the craft keenly.
"Hirani was reportedly impressed by his cinematic awareness and eye for detail," a source close to the unit of the film, said.

Aamir was initially taken aback with Junaid wanting to work with Hirani as he did not want his son to neglect his studies.

"The boy somehow managed to persuade his superstar dad," the source added.
As part of assisting Hirani, Junaid is at the moment finalising locations for the film. Peekay will be shot in locations all across India.

Sources said Junaid was always more excited with the craft of filmmaking rather than acting. While it is not clear yet, whether he will face the camera at some point later, he surely wants to be a director.
Peekay is Aamir's second film with Hirani after the 2009 blockbuster, 3 Idiots.

While the filmmaker has been reluctant to give out details about the film saying it is too early to talk about it, sources say Peekay is a political satire that aims at making a scathing comment on corruption.

Aamir will reportedly play an alcoholic social crusader who remains perennially sloshed.
For a while, news did the rounds suggesting that Hirani wanted to call his film Talli. However, the filmmaker and his lead star Aamir finally settled on Peekay.

Aamir is currently busy with his debut TV show, Satyamev Jayate. He will shift focus on his next release, Talaash, after the show.

The thriller, co-starring Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor, is scheduled to open on November 30.
Aamir, recently, started shooting for the much-awaited action film, Dhoom 3, opposite Katrina Kaif and will be ready for Peekay this year-end.
